February 26, 2006 The snow finally came to Madrid, not much as you can see, but enough to make a little snowman this morning. Last time we had snow here was on feb 2005, so I guess I can't complain... The song is giving me a hard time, there's a lot of tracks involved and seems like every track is fighting against the other. I reached a point where I don't now what sounds good and what doesn't so I decided to stop and leave it for the next weekend. I'll take it again later with a fresh ear. The ending turned out different than what I expected yesterday, didn't use the white noise at all, the fake waves thing sounded too much like JM Jarre, so I used this free plugin from Izotope called Izotope Vinyl, I took some mechanical noise from it and did a high pass filter over. All the "indian chant" are now passing through an automated resonant filter, taking much of the high frequencies away; the "love is love..." voices at the end received some violent treatment, were converted to 8 bit and repeteadly down sampled to reach a very digital lo-fi sound. I decided to give some room sound to the udus, bass drum and snare, just a little touch, nothing to echoey so it still sounds near. |
