February 19, 2006 The song I'm working right now is even more simple than "Tribal..." (read previous entry), it just have 1 chord and it's called "Lack of it is Emptiness". I decided to add some trouble to my life maintaining the same chord all over all the time and trying to bring motion and variation using other "weapons". This song started with a simple melody with words that came to my mind while walking on the street a while ago, I kept it in my head until I was ready for recording. I did a lot of udu takes and percussion stuff, more than I needed in fact, but I wanted to have a lot of material to work with since the song has only one chord. Also did a 45 minute voice-storm, recording everything that came out of my mouth. The bass line is very simple and just fills the bottom end (of the sound spectrum I mean ;D), I played it with a fretless bass, which is a nightmare to play for a guitarist like me. Yesterday I added some acoustic slide guitar, I wanted a "cheap" sound, not a perfect pristine slide, so I used a very beaten up guitar that seems to have the same strings set since 1987... right now I'm not sure if I'm going to keep that in the mix, it sounds too cheap!!. We'll see...

Lack of it is Emptyness
C'mon you're wearing eyes on
your back. I was born in a country where
I never lived, Some
give up, and go down, Love is love, wherever you are,
